Since this whole blogging thing is new to me, I’m taking some time to highlight weddings that I haven’t shared before. With a brand new blog and a few years of photos that weren’t shared, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. After several cups of coffee, I’m feeling ready to write and reminisce…
Maybe it’s because Jesse and I are headed to Mexico for an anniversary trip in a few months and I AM SO EXCITED I COULD PEE!! Or maybe it’s because Anna just booked a fall newborn session with me in anticipation of the arrival of their little boy. OR!! Maybe it’s because I have a hankering for a pina colada despite it being Monday morning. Haha. Regardless, Anna & Drew’s destination wedding is on my mind today, so here goes.
When I boarded a plane to shoot their wedding at The Royal Cancun, I knew it was going to be an amazing adventure. I knew there would be sunshine and blue waters and white-sand beaches. I had a feeling there would be some pool time and some fancy drinks delivered by friendly waiters. Still, I really couldn’t have pictured the perfection that was their wedding weekend. There was this incredibly welcoming group of people that met up at the pool each day to laugh, tell stories, and share in the excitement of this couple’s marriage. And when I say laugh, I mean deep-belly, tears-in-the-eyes kind of laughter, and it lasted for the entire three days I was there. There was a light-heartedness to all of it, despite the formal gown and serious vows and appreciation of the importance of this day. Anna & Drew and their friends and family maintained an ease and silliness and laid back attitude that was so endearing.
Something that I love about destination weddings, too, is that the guests don’t just show up, eat dinner, have a few drinks, dance a bit, and go home. They are there for the long haul, and everyone seems to get to know each other and spend not just a few hours, but a few DAYS, celebrating the marriage of two awesome people. I think I speak for all those involved when I say, I wish it could have lasted another week. Or two. Or at least maybe we could plan an anniversary/reunion trip sometime?? Yes? Say yes!!
Anna & Drew are another one of my wedding clients who have hired me to photograph their next big life moment – newborn photos are scheduled for this fall – and I am so excited and honored to be able to help preserve those first few days for them. Like your wedding day that is gone in an instant, so is that newborn squishy snuggly phase, and I’m stoked to take pics of their little guy when he arrives. Hooray for babies!!!!
